Kristin: Lauren Isn't Trashy Enough For MTV

http://www.usmagazine.com/uploads/assets/articles/26201-lauren-conrad-kristin-cavallaris-very-opinionated/conrad-cavallari-b.jpgOn both MTV's Laguna Beach and The Hills, Kristin Cavallari was portrayed as Lauren Conrad's arch nemesis. But, to speak to Cavallari today, she would say very little that was portrayed on The Hills resembled her actual life.

"Yeah, in high school," Cavallari tells Zap2it when we asked her about her supposed rivalry with Conrad.

"We're very friendly with each other," she says. "The last time we saw each other was The Hills wrap party. We hung out all night. We're very friendly. I don't have her phone number. I don't call her. But when we see each other, we're very nice."

Cavallari, who will be guest starring on Wednesday's (Feb. 16) episode of The Middle on ABC, says that she was surprised to hear that MTV canceled Conrad's reality show before it even aired. But, while she expressed that she didn't expect that Conrad's show would be killed by the network, she says she can understand why.

"To be honest I think that 'Jersey Shore' is so freakin' hot," she says. "The ratings are unbelievable. And I think that, unfortunately, TV is getting trashier and trashier. Lauren's very sweet and very nice. That's not always that very entertaining."

MTV Cans New Lauren Conrad Realtiy Show

http://www.celebrity-gossip.net/images/photos/lauren-conrad-avon-hope.jpg

Last fall, MTV announced that it was reuniting with Lauren Conrad, star of the network’s Laguna Beach and The Hills, for another reality series focused on the young star’s burgeoning fashion line. But EW has EXCLUSIVELY learned why the Conrad series has been passed on by the network. “We decided not to go ahead with the show,” says David Janollari, EVP, Head of Programming for MTV. “She did do a pilot. There were talks about whether we could somehow manage to put together a special based on that footage but that’s also a big question mark based on her interest in that and the finances. We love her! We would love her on our network!” The proposed series was not a glossy reality soap like The Hills but much more documentary style. It was also noticeably absent from MTV’s Upfront this week. Says Janollari, “It was a great attempt but it just didn’t feel like a perfect fit for us now.” (The news of Conrad’s show not moving forward was first reported by blogger Rob Owen.)

UPDATE Lauren Conrad has sent EW a statement regarding MTV’s decision:

“We sold a show to MTV, filmed it and are really proud of the final result. MTV felt the subject matter was too high brow for their audience and offered me the opportunity to change the show by incorporating more of my personal life. We agreed going into the project that this show would be an aspirational one, focusing on my career and my goals and not my personal relationships. We delivered the show that we sold and are sorry MTV didn’t feel their viewers were savvy enough to appreciate it.”

Whitney Port: 'The City' Has Been Cancelled

http://www.celebgossipz.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/whitney-port-bikini-pictures-the-city.jpg

Whitney Port and pals won't be living life in the big city anymore! The Hills alumna confirmed that MTV has axed her spinoff show The City.

"As of right now it doesn't really look like we're doing it anymore," the 25 year-old Whitney Eve fashion designer said on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show Monday. When asked if the reality series could move from MTV to another network, Whitney said, "No, at this point it's not."

But Whitney, ever the optimist, is handling the cancellation well. "I'm working on some other things," she said. "It's okay, one door closes and another opens."

More Outrageous Claims By You-Know-Who

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are shopping another rumor around town claiming  they are fuming at MTV for the network's "inappropriate requests and lies" ...one request involving family abuse. Of course they are claiming to just be "a source."

Spencer posing as "a friend" of his told X17online exclusively:
MTV has been asking them to do inappropriate things for the show. They've wanted Spencer to play up his aggressiveness for ratings, and he doesn't want to do it. For Season 5, MTV producers even asked Spencer to hit his own sister Stephanie.
The drama doesn't stop there! X17online has also learned that "a female producer in Season 5 shoved Heidi from behind and that pissed off Spencer. When he confronted that producer, that's when MTV said Spencer threatened the producer. She was supposed to be fired, but was allowed back as a producer for this season."

Seems as though the Pratts aren't feeling the love on set from co-stars either. They also say Kristin Cavallari has been publicly bashing them - claiming they're no longer filming this season of The Hills.

The mystery caller aka Spencer Pratt denies these claims telling us:
Heidi and Spencer are definitely part of the this season, just not much considering the circumstances. Kristin Cavallari has been making comments about them because she is just jealous. Heidi is doing a movie with Jen Aniston and Nicole Kidman and Kristin's new movie went straight to DVD.
